The Wet
In the Australian tropics the wet season, effects regions of the in the north of the country, which sees temperatures and humidity rise and monsoonal rains are common. The season normally runs between November and March. In Darwin the wet season is considered to be an ideal time to visit, with sunny days, afternoon storms and a lush green landscape. Temperatures range from 25 to 33 Celsius and the humidity can be over 80%. See overflowing rivers, waterfalls and the wonderful light show provided by afternoon storms.
Boyup Brook Music Festival
Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is one of Western Australia’s most popular music and camping festivals. The festival is held over 4 days in February each year and features international, national and local country music artists. The festival is very popular drawing people from throughout the state and nationally to the small town of Boyup Brook. The event is family friendly and features a street carnival, ute and truck muster, bush poetry, street markets and of course plenty of live music. The 2018 lineup includes: The McClymonts, Travis Collins, Ben Gunn, Codee-Lee, Scott Douglas, Allan Caswell, Latehorse and many more.
Melbourne International Garden Festival
Over 100,000 people visited the 2017 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show this year, making this a very popular event for those interested in all things floral. In 2018 the festival will run between the 21st and 25th March, and will feature breathtaking show gardens, Masterclasses, spectacular floral displays, presentations by industry experts, entertainment, exhibitions, food and over 150 exhibitors selling products to take your garden to the next level. This festival is a feast for the senses and for garden enthusiasts should not be missed.
Vivid Festival
Each year Sydney turns on a spectacular light show for Vivid Festival. Running from the 25th May to the 16th June in 2018, the festival features dazzling visual light shows which turn some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks into art. The festival features; light displays, art exhibitions and installations, musical performances, international speakers and thought leaders and much more. One of the best spots to experience Vivid Sydney from is Darling Harbour, with many operators running cruises throughout the festival.
WA Wildflowers
Springtime in WA is special indeed with wildflowers within the state blossoming in abundance throughout from late August through to the end of October. More than 12,000 species are found in Western Australia, over 60% of which are found nowhere else on Earth. Tourists can experience everlastings, fields of colour, wreath Leschenaultia, Orchids, tree flowers and even the stunning bushland of the south west. Different regions in WA bloom at different times, and are known for different varietals – so make sure you do your research!
