2017 has been a great touring season with plenty of adventures and laughs, we are now looking to 2018 and there are plenty of trips from on offer for tourists visiting Perth. Here are some highlights coming up in early 2018:
Wagin Woolarama
In 1972 Wagin Woolarama was created by the Wagin Agricultural Society. Next year will be the 46th show, with all proceeds from the event being used for the benefit if the community of Wagin. One of the state’s largest agricultural shows, it attracts over 20,000 visitors each year. The show features more than agriculture, celebrating wool fashion, baking, art, craft, sheep dog trials, machinery displays and musical entertainment.
Dolphin & Scenic Canal Cruise Mandurah
Bottlenose dolphins live in coastal waters and oceans can be found right around the coast of Australia. The sheltered canals of Mandurah are one place where these beautiful and intelligent animals can often be found. Mandurah has a healthy population of bottlenose dolphins that is estimated to number between 75 – 100 individuals, depending on the time of year. The pods of dolphins vary in size from solitary dolphins to small groups of 3-4 to larger groups of 10-15. Enjoy the beauty of the Mandurah canals, with their luxury homes and even keep an eye out for exotic bird life at the Wetland Reserves.
Brookton Old Time Motor Show
The 2018 Brookton Old Time Motor Show, held on Saturday the 24thMarch is celebrating “The Best of British – Pistons and Polish.” The show will feature cars, trucks, tractors, machinery, military vehicles, motor bikes from yesteryear. Car enthusiasts and families alike will be sure to enjoy the day with activities, market stalls, food and entertainment. The Brookton Motor Show, held every 2 years encourages the restoration, preservation and display of vintage vehicles and machines in a non-competitive environment. Running since 1981 it has built a significant reputation amongst the vintage motoring industry of a high quality show that regularly sees over 4000 people attend.
Dardanup Heritage Park Tour
This world class collection of working agricultural and industrial machinery from the past is a short 2.5 hour drive from Perth. Starting out as a small collection of international tractors, the collection has since grown to encompass wagons, horse drawn equipment, tractors, bulldozers, a fire truck, missiles, bombs, weapons and so much more. Visitors will need at least a few hours to explore this vast collection.
New Norcia Guided Walk, Art Gallery & Museum Tour
Established as a mission in 1846 by Benedictine monks, New Norcia is a picturesque town with plenty to see and do. A leisurely 1.5 hour drive from Perth, take a day to explore the museum and art gallery, the beautiful architecture of the monastery and historic buildings, or enjoy a stroll along the New Norcia Heritage Riverwalk. There are some lovely spots for a picnic lunch, or even visit one of the local cafes for some homemade scones, jam and cream.
