Air Mechanic Class II – George Lonsdale Taylor
On our 2019 Floriade, Canberra, Snowy Mountains & Kelly Country Tour, we were fortunate enough to be present at the Australian War Memorial for the Last Post on 5 October 2019.
This post was dedicated to George Lonsdale Taylor who was an Air Mechanic Class II fallen at such an early age of 18. Every day the Australian War Memorial pay tribute to a fallen soldier and is broadcast on YouTube and throughout RSL organisations around the State.
Although not knowing this fallen young man, it was a very moving ceremony with his family in attendance laying wreaths and the hundreds of visitors standing in the Commemorative Area of all nationalities paying respects to one of our fallen soldiers from World War I.
We will be visiting the Australian War Memorial in two tours within 2020, the Great Dividing Range Tour which we will be attending the ANZAC service in Canberra departing 21 April and the Floriade, Canberra, Snowy Mountains & Kelly Country Tour departing 8 October 2020. Though if you are looking to attend the ANZAC Day in Albany the last Australian stop that our soldiers saw before heading to War will be departing 24 April 2020.
Please find following the information on our fallen soldier:
