Western Australia is a vast state, covering a third of Australia. There is so much to see and do in WA, from the crystal clear beaches of Dunsborough to the balmy tropics of Broome; the state offers a diverse mix for tourists. The state is separated into 5 regions, the North West, Golden Outback, Coral Coast, Experience Perth and the South West. Below is a breakdown of some of the main tourist attractions found within each region.

North West

The most northern region of WA, the North West draws tourists in with exceptional national parks, laid back beach towns, waterfalls, gorges and stunning scenery. Broome is arguably the region’s best known city, featuring a laid back holiday vibe, tropical weather, delicious food, markets, stunning beaches and a unique blend of cultures. The Pilbara, also found in the North West, is well known for the natural landscapes found in Karijini and Millstream Chichester National Parks. The parks feature waterfalls, crystal clear rock pools, gorges and an abundance of wildlife. Not to be forgotten is the Kimberley, another gem of the North West. Covering nearly 423,000 square kilometres, some of the most iconic locations include; Kununurra, Lake Ayre, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge and the Bungle Bungles.

Golden Outback

Golden Outback
The birth place of WA’s gold rush era, the Golden Outback is rich in Australian history. The golden outback stretches from the Gascoyne-Murchison region in the North to Esperance on the south coast. In the north visit the world’s largest monolith, Mount Augustus and experience the red dirt open expanse of the outback. Or visit the unusual Wave Rock found near the town of Hyden, within the Wheatbelt. Wave Rock is famous for its unusual shape, resembling a giant wave, standing 15 meters high. Further south, enjoy untouched coast line, brilliant blue water and white beaches when visiting places including Esperance, Cape Le Grand National Park and Fitzgerald River National Park.

Coral Coast

Coral Coast

As the name suggests, the Coral Coast is home to some of WA’s most spectacular marine parks and ocean experiences. Australia’s Ningaloo Reef is found here, and is one of the last great ocean marine parks. Coral Gardens, Whale Sharks, Turtles, Dolphins, Fish – there is plenty of marine life to experience. Go snorkelling, swimming or even head out on a glass bottom boat. Monkey Mia offers an up close and personal experience with Bottlenose Dolphins; the wild animals have been interacting with people at the location for over 45 years. Don’t forget to head inland to experience the national parks including: Namburg National Park – home to the Pinnacles and Kalbarri National Park.

Experience Perth

The capital of Perth offers beaches, restaurants, exhibitions and entertainment to suit any visitor. From the urban landscape of Perth city, to the laid-back coastal regions, to wine region of hills, there is so much diversity within the Perth metropolitan region. Some of the popular destinations of this region include: Perth, Fremantle, Rottnest Island, Chittering Valley, Mandurah, Perth Hills and the Swan Valley.

South West

Wineries, beautiful forests, coastal drives, fresh produce, markets, gourmet food, nature and wildlife all abound in this region. Made up of the Geographe, Margaret River, Blackwood River Valley, Southern Forests and Great Southern regions, there are many towns to see while in this region.
